Eagle VMS

Self-hosted video management system for ONVIF/RTSP IP cameras — live view, recording, and a native multi-site Android app. Downloads and setup below.

Windows Server Installer

v0.1.20 · ~2.3 MB

Run this on the Windows PC that will host the cameras for one site (e.g. your home or a gym). It installs Eagle VMS as an auto-starting Windows service, sets up hardware-accelerated transcoding, and opens a remote-access URL so the Android app can reach it from outside your network.

Android App

v1.0.0 (build 1) · ~2.4 MB

Sideloaded APK (not on the Play Store). View live cameras and recordings from multiple Eagle VMS servers in one app, grouped by site. Self-updates in-app once installed.

Server setup (Windows)

  1. Pick the Windows PC that sits on the same network as the cameras for this site. A dedicated GPU (NVIDIA/Intel) is recommended for smooth live view of 4K/HEVC cameras, but not required.
  2. Download eagle-vms-server-installer.zip above and extract it anywhere.
  3. Right-click install.ps1 → Run with PowerShell. It will prompt for Administrator permission — accept it.
  4. The installer downloads Node.js and a remote-access tunnel if needed, installs dependencies, and sets up two Windows services: EagleVMS (the server) and EagleVMSTunnel (remote access). This takes a few minutes.
  5. When it finishes, it prints a local URL, a remote URL, and an admin password. Write these down — they're also saved in the install folder as admin-password.txt and remote-url.txt.
  6. Open the local URL (http://localhost:8780) in a browser on that PC, log in with the admin password, and click Discover Cameras to scan the local network and add your cameras. Each camera can be toggled to record or stay live-view-only.
Advanced: install.ps1 -InstallDir "D:\EagleVMS" -Port 8780 -AdminPassword "yourpassword" -NoTunnel — all parameters are optional.

Android app setup

  1. On the Android device, allow installs from unknown sources when prompted, then install the downloaded eagle-vms.apk.
  2. Open the app → Settings → Add Site.
  3. For each server you installed, enter a name for the site (e.g. "Home"), the remote URL from that server's install output, and its admin password.
  4. Repeat for every additional server/site — the main screen shows all your cameras in one scrolling grid, grouped by site header, each site handled independently (one site being down or logged out never affects the others).

Multiple sites

Eagle VMS is one server per physical site. To cover more than one location (e.g. a home and a business), run the installer once on a PC at each site, then add every site's remote URL + password as a separate "Site" in the Android app. A site's cameras can be set to record locally, or left live-view-only if you already have a separate recording/alarm system for that location.
